Cards & decorations for Christmas & beyond

Over the last few weeks I have been busy developing cards and ornaments that can be used for Christmas but are not so Christmassy that they can’t be used all year.

Winter Cards

I have used dried seed heads and foliage from my garden and gathered on dog walks to make monoprints using my gelli plate and acrylic. The basic technique is similar to my Hello Gello method so if you’d like written instuctions see my blog post:

Hello Gello

I have done a couple of things differently here - such as using iridescent paint and printing directly onto cards so if you’d like to see a demonstration watch the video.
I have a great tip of how can you make twice as many cards with hardly any effort!

Botanical miniatures

I found these very sweet mini frames online and thought they’d be ideal to make ornaments from. They are double sided so I put a print on one side and some of the plant material left from making the cards on the other side,

As I’d been printing with them they already had some paint on them and I added some gold and silver spray paint for a festive touch.

These look so pretty as hanging ornaments on you tree, but again, I think these could be used on other occasions as well. You could use just dried flowers or put a photograph in to make a lovely personal present for someone.

Watch this video to see how I made them:
